In May 2023, OAMPS Hazardous Industries joined the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association (ADBA).
The ADBA provide the anaerobic digestion (AD) industry with expert advice, education and lobbying, and helping facilitate growth of the industry. Crucially the ADBA are supporting the UK in meeting its renewable energy and waste targets and pave the way for a carbon-free future.
If you know AD, you know. But if you don’t, anaerobic digestion, its “the simple, natural breakdown of organic matter (often human-produced waste) by two groups of microorganisms: bacteria and archaea. Since many of these are intolerant to oxygen, this process is known as anaerobic.”

Innovative and growing sectors, including anaerobic digestion, have specific risks to be understood, managed and insured. OAMPS Hazardous Industries brings together risk expertise and industry insight.
Karl Jones, Account Director explains why ADBA membership is key for OAMPS Hazardous Industries.
“Growing and challenging industries can benefit enormously from the risk understanding that our team of experts have built over three decades through working with many of the UK’s hazardous industrial sectors.
“Inherently innovative industries and technologies are continually creating new risks, especially as they grow. And sometimes a lack of knowledge and familiarity means the insurance market is not as positive as it could be in supporting these emerging technologies.
“With ADBA, we want to help insurance underwriters understand those evolving risks and how they can be effectively managed, and to use our expertise to deliver real value to the sector.”
